A few practical answers so your first message to us can be a useful one rather than a tentative one.

What kinds of businesses does PLJN Capital actually look at?

We focus on established UK SMEs with a trading history, usually in the £1m to £10m turnover range. That covers manufacturing, trades, business services and specialist niches. If in doubt, send the outline anyway and we will say honestly whether it fits.

I want to buy a business but have no acquisition experience. Is that a problem?

No. Several of our conversations start with a first-time buyer who has sector knowledge but little deal experience. We can walk through the process step by step and set out what is realistic before anyone spends money on legal work.

What information should I send with my first enquiry?

Keep it short. A paragraph on the business or the target, the sector, rough turnover and profit figures, and what you want to happen next. Deeper material such as accounts or an information memorandum can follow once we have spoken.

Do you sign a non-disclosure agreement before talks begin?

Yes, we are happy to put a mutual NDA in place before you share anything sensitive. Say so in your message and we will send a simple agreement to sign, at no cost and without obligation on either side.

How long does an SME acquisition usually take from first contact to completion?

A straightforward deal tends to take four to nine months. It depends on due diligence, finance and how ready the seller is. We would rather set a realistic timetable at the start than promise a quick finish that slips.

What does PLJN Capital charge for an initial conversation?

Nothing. The first conversation is free and carries no commitment. If we go further, we set out any fees or terms in writing before you agree to anything, and you can walk away at that point.
